Need To Take A Break From Being A Carer
 For Your Loved One?

But find it almost impossible to get away?

Caring for an elderly loved one  can be hard work and often ties you to home almost all day every day, especially if they're living with dementia. Even if you can get away for short periods, or are supporting your loved one but not living with them, getting the opportunity to take a longer term break can be very difficult.

You could engage the services of a home care company, though they can’t be there 24 hours a day and there’s always the risk that something will happen while you’re not there. In any case it’s not ideal having strangers coming into the house, especially if your loved one is vulnerable and confused by new faces.

So how do you get a break, whether it’s covering a two-week holiday or because its urgently needed because of sickness or a family emergency?

If you’re grappling with this problem where you need to take a longer break but can’t see how, we’d like to offer you the ideal solution.

Introducing our respite care service

Wouldn’t it be great if you could trust someone else to look after your loved one with the same loving care that you do? Then you’d be free to take as much time away as you need secure in the knowledge that they’re completely safe and being well looked after.

Well that’s exactly what you’ll find with our respite care service. Your loved one can spend anything from a few days to several weeks with us at Sherwood House. It’s perfect if you need to take a short trip for a few days or want to go on holiday for a week or two.

You can even have them stay longer – several months if you needed to go into hospital or wanted to visit relatives abroad for an extended period, for example.

Straight away, I felt we had chosen the right home.

Carol B Respite Resident

My sisters and I recently needed to put Mum in for a long weekend for respite. A member of staff came to give Mum her Covid test at home, and straight away, I felt we had chosen the right home.

They set us up on a WhatsApp group, so my sisters and I knew what was happening, and also a family group and sent pictures and videos of Mum while she was in there, which was very comforting, as she seemed to be very happy. What a lovely place and all the staff I met were great; the team leader was extremely helpful.

You get all the benefits of full time residential care

Every day there are interesting and fun activities and events they can join in. Or, if they’d prefer some quiet time there are plenty of places to simply read or enjoy the peaceful and secure gardens.

Our highly trained and caring staff is on hand 24/7 to help in any way needed or just to have a friendly chat. So you can rest easy in the knowledge that your loved one is receiving the best possible care and attention.

They'll experience a refreshing change of scenery, make new friends and be fully cared for 24 hours a day in this home from home. They’ll have their own well-appointed room to maintain privacy and can even bring along their own treasured mementos  to make it even more familiar and comfortable.

It's great value for money

The respite care service is £175 per day. That's great value. Just compare it with a stay at a hotel. How much would it cost at a hotel to have:

  • All 3 main meals provided
  • Unlimited snacks and drinks
  • Full personal care 24/7
  • Entertainment, activities and events all laid on
  • All your clothes washed and ironed

Try a day for Free & know you’ll be happy

We’re sure that before you leave them you’ll want to know without doubt that your loved one is going to be properly looked after while you’re away. And they’ll want to check out the place they’ll be staying at to make sure they’re comfortable with their surroundings and the people who will be caring for them.

So, we’d like to offer you and your loved one the opportunity to spend a day here at Sherwood House. It’s completely free so there’s no risk or cost to you whatsoever.

This way you’ll be able to see what our service is like and your loved one will be able to experience the excellent level of care and companionship they’ll enjoy while you’re away. Just be warned – they may not want to leave once they see how much they enjoy it!
